The Gardens of Anuncia

Designed by Mark Wendland Lincoln Center, Mitzi Newhouse Theater

320 ropes

4,000 Beads

3,100 petals

As scenic artists, we handcrafted each of the ropes. First being cut to 22 feet, we then attached the hardware. Next we hand dipped every rope in crystal gel to seal it for painting. Wooden beads were glued on at every 9 inches. The ropes were then spray painted in a gradient. The flower petals and leaves were painted, hand cut, and treated with flame retardant. Following the detailed patterns, the flowers and leaves were glued on. The position and flower placement was specifically planned to ensure the desired visual effect.
